Damiano Fasso (Montecchio Maggiore, 1976) is an Italian visual artist whose research explores the image as an unstable field, marked by the tensions and accelerations of contemporary society. With a degree in Literature from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Brescia and a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Fasso has developed a hybrid language that blends painting, installation, video art, and artificial intelligence. His practice transforms symbols from pop culture, video games, and the digital ecosystem into layered visual narratives, connecting historical memory with the technological accelerations of the present.
In his paintings, the use of unconventional materials such as gunpowder and fluorescent pigments creates surfaces that react to light, underscoring the illusory and ambiguous nature of virtual reality, an element that also appears central in his video and multimedia works. Through a "hyper-pop" aesthetic, the artist investigates critical issues such as environmental pollution, the desire for domination, and the manipulation of digital information. This approach transforms the canvas into a space for post-human reflection, where the pictorial gesture constantly engages with glitches, manga culture, and algorithms.
Fasso's career has been marked by a constant international outreach, beginning in 2001 with his participation in the 49th Venice Biennale. Since then, his work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions and iconic spaces, such as the monumental screens in Times Square in New York and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy in Rome. Present in important public and private collections, including the VideoInsight Collection and the Salce National Museum, Damiano Fasso continues to interrogate the role of images in shaping our perception of the world, inviting the viewer to linger in the ambiguity between matter and pixels. His work has been included by the scientific committee in the China-Italy Yearbook of Contemporary Art 2025.
