Today, Beet Review publishes the new editorial "Damiano Fasso: Between Matter and Pixel: Looking as a Critical Act."
An intense and detailed exploration that explores some of the central themes of his research—from the relationship between image and simulation to the tensions between pictorial matter, digital culture, and contemporary perception. The article explores the hybrid dimension of his work with great critical sensitivity, bringing painting, video, glitch aesthetics, and post-human imagery into dialogue within a reflection on the present and our way of looking at the world. Heartfelt thanks to Beet Review for this important editorial and for their attention to artistic research. 📖 Read the full article: https://www.beetreview.it/2026/05/01/damiano-fasso-tra-materia-e-pixel-guardare-come-atto-critico/ Sgallari Arte is pleased to present Prophetic Visions, a solo exhibition by Damiano Fasso curated by Luca Ricci and Pengpeng Wang. From March 14 to April 4, 2026. Opening Saturday, March 14, at 6:00 PM. Presentation by Luca Ricci
Damiano Fasso's solo exhibition, Prophetic Visions, constructs a visual field suspended between infantile iconography, post-digital symbols, and apocalyptic allegory. In these works, the artist, through a low-fi material language and a simplified figurative grammar, consistently develops a vision of strategic "pseudo-naivety": cartoonish creatures, pixelated aliens, simplified skeletons, astronauts, pills, dinosaur skeletons, symbolized Oriental characters, and social media hashtags combine to form a de-historicized iconic ecosystem. This system refers both to the homogenization of globalized visual culture and to the fragmented condition of the contemporary subject within algorithmic environments and consumer structures. The surface of Fasso's images presents the flatness and decorativeness of children's illustrated books—strong black outlines, uniform color fields, repeated textures. and bright fluorescences — yet this “cuteness” is constantly eroded by signs of latent violence: floating skulls, deities of contamination, gunshots, pill-like bodies, and astronauts in zero gravity place the scene in a tension zone between fairy tale and catastrophe. The astronaut no longer symbolizes exploration, but rather approaches the figure of a suspended patient or an experimental subject, becoming a post-human vector modulated by technological and chemical environments; the skeletonized dinosaurs and pixelated creatures instead appear as relics of a future archaeology, alluding to the toyization and museification of life and history in consumer culture. An iconography of the “soft apocalypse” emerges: the disaster does not manifest itself as a collapse or explosion, but infiltrates everyday life in the form of playful, commodified, and consumable signs. The recurrence of hashtags (#), pixelated video game characters, gestural interface icons, and declarative texts in English (such as art is a digital lie) indicates that the image It no longer represents reality, but the media environment itself. These elements function not as quotations, but rather as the structure of the image, configuring a sort of post-digital popular iconography: the visual motifs no longer derive from natural experience or religious tradition, but from interface culture, video games, and the syntax of social media. In this sense, the “prophecy” is no longer theological revelation, but rather a cultural prediction of the algorithmic age—the future of the visual will be generated by the language of platforms rather than by the experience of the world. In the creative process, Fasso, following his own cultural inclination, inserts Chinese characters and Japanese words (such as “未来の夢,” “故障,” “元素”) into numerous works, which often appear as labels or graphic signs rather than as syntactic text, producing a de-semantized Orientality: the language separates from its cultural context and becomes a sign of global, mobile, and consumable design. These elements simultaneously suggest the semantic shift of culture in the digital age and the condition of a "Downloadable culture" in the global visual market, where writing no longer conveys history but functions as an ornamental unit in an archive of images. Fasso also introduces significant linguistic deviations in his materials, employing polymers, fluorescent paints, metallic powders, and glitter—industrial media—to produce reflective, synthetic, and depthless surfaces, placing the work somewhere between painting, toys, and signage. This choice is not decorative, but rather constitutes an allegorical use of consumer society materials: glitter and fluorescence here take on the role of a religious "gold leaf" of contemporary secular culture, alluding to the cultic structure of consumerist visuals. The unconventional spelling of the title Prophetic Visions further reinforces this context, suggesting a distorted or dislocated prophecy: in a world governed by technical systems, data culture, and the language of platforms, the future is no longer announced by the oracle, but generated by the circulation of images and the reproduction of signs. Fasso's works thus appear as relics. visuals of a future civilization: both infantile and contaminated, seductive and empty, global and without belonging. They do not represent the future, but rather constitute its symptomatic present image, demonstrating the process through which the human subject is progressively transformed into part of the iconic environment dominated by algorithmic vision, consumer materials, and the overproduction of signs. In this sense, Prophetic visions is not a depiction of the future, but a visual archaeology of the post-digital era: in a reality rewritten by the language of platforms, prophecy no longer refers to a divine revelation, but rather to the destiny of re-coding the human within structures of image and technology.” (Pengpeng Wang, The Persistence of the Prophetic Image and Post-Digital Allegory) Damiano Fasso is among the artists selected by the Academic Committee for the new edition of the China-Italy Contemporary Art Yearbook (AACC-I), a bilingual publication (Italian/Chinese, 2025/26 editions) dedicated to cultural and artistic dialogue between the two countries. The Yearbook serves as a platform for discussion between artists, curators, and institutions engaged in contemporary research and building cultural bridges between Europe and Asia. Inclusion in the AACC-I marks further recognition of the artist's research, which focuses on experimentation with painting, digital imagery, and hyper-pop visions, in an ongoing reflection on the relationship between technology, identity, and collective memory. The exhibition "Signa Pacis" opens its doors at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy in Rome, in the splendid Hall of Tapestries, featuring a work by Damiano Fasso.
The exhibition offers a philatelic journey divided into large thematic sections dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, Art and Literature, and important figures who have contributed to building peace throughout history. The exhibition project is enriched by the work "Phantasmagoria Pacis" by artist Damiano Fasso, who, through philosophical and musical references, offers a contemporary and critical reading of our society. "Phantasmagoria Pacis" is an original creation that combines digital painting, artificial intelligence, and video, inspired by the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the thinking of great figures of the past such as Einstein, Gandhi, and Kant. The work is accompanied by the music of Dona Nobis Pacem by J.S. Bach, the Foundation's official soundtrack and a key element in highlighting the fragility of Peace and the need for its active and collective defense. Inauguration – December 15, 2025, 3:30 PM The inauguration, which was a great success with the public, included speeches by: Antonio Silvio Calò, President of the Venice Foundation for Peace Research; Damiano Fasso, the artist behind Phantasmagoria Pacis; Gilda Gallerati, Head of the Cultural Center of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy; Angelo Piermattei, President of the Italian Philatelic and Numismatic Association "A. Diena". I’m pleased to announce that my artwork “Dreamtime Travels” has been officially selected by AIMA – AI Master Award, one of the leading international programs dedicated to AI-generated art.

Two days at the Teatro Mario Del Monaco, the Luigi Bailo Civic Museum, and the Salce Collection National Museum, dedicated to theater as a social practice and a space for shared thought. The program includes an international conference on scenography and costume design, with scholars and professionals in the field, a roundtable discussion "Inclusive Languages in Theatrical Spaces," the Avanscena Active Archive, an exhibition of artist posters, materials, and testimonies on the current state of the performing arts, and an artistic project by Cristina Pistoletto. Avanscena highlights the professions "behind the scenes" of theater—set designers, costume designers, lighting designers, technicians—and reaffirms the public and collective value of the contemporary stage. I'm participating in the Active Archive section at the Salce Collection National Museum with a specially created authorial poster and a video interview dedicated to the dialogue between visual art and contemporary art. From September 13 to November 9, 2025, the National Museum of the Salce Collection in Treviso hosts the exhibition "Phantasmagoria Pacis," a major event dedicated to the theme of peace in contemporary art and visual communication.
The exhibition, promoted by the Venice Foundation for Peace Research in collaboration with the National Museum of the Salce Collection, offers a new narrative of peace: no longer simply as the absence of war, but as a creative, ethical, and shared act of construction, imagination, and dialogue. A digital preview on the façade of the Prefecture Palace Ahead of the inauguration, on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM, a digital work by artist Damiano Fasso will be projected onto the façade of the Prefecture Palace in Treviso. The work, inspired by the concept of "Phantasmagoria," transforms the city's main square into a symbolic place of reflection and light, uniting art and technology in the service of peace. A Journey Through Historic Posters and Digital Art "Phantasmagoria Pacis" presents over 50 historic posters from the collections of the Salce Collection National Museum, particularly those from the post-World War II era, testimonies of hope, reconstruction, and coexistence. Alongside these, the exhibition also includes digital works and contemporary installations by artists such as Tobia Ravà (Padua, 1959), Abdallah Khaled (Tamrichte Bejaïa, 1954), and Damiano Fasso (Vicenza, 1976). Fasso offers a digital and generative reinterpretation of vintage posters, uniting past and present in an innovative visual narrative. Art as a Peacemaker The exhibition invites the public to reflect on aesthetics, ethics, and existence: a journey from Bach's polyphony—a symbol of harmony and coexistence—to the fragile and powerful city of Venice, an emblem of vision and rebirth. In an era marked by crisis and conflict, art becomes a language of peace, a place of resistance and proposal. "Phantasmagoria Pacis" thus becomes a collective call to place peace back at the center of the political, cultural, and social imagination. Treviso, Capital of the Culture of Peace With this exhibition, Treviso, the Salce Museum, and the Venice Foundation for Peace Research present themselves as a new national and international reference point for the promotion of a culture of peace through art. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, RAI, the European Parliament, the Municipality of Treviso, the Province of Treviso, and the Directorate-General for Museums of the Veneto. Immersive Frontiers: The frontiers of immersion. A Video Art exhibition curated by Rebecca Russo.
Spazio Leonardo, as the final event of the 2024 exhibition programme, presents Art Routine For Well Being, a Video Art exhibition in collaboration with Fondazione Videoinsight® and its founder, contemporary art collector, philanthropist and creator of the Videoinsight® Method, Rebecca Russo. Fondazione Videoinsight® promotes the psychophysical well-being of individuals and communities through contemporary art, introducing artworks into social and work contexts. Art has the power to improve the quality of life and stimulate human resources; it is an essential tool for activating processes of personal growth and evolution. Health is a state of physical, mental, and social well-being. Art is the medicine for the soul: it promotes well-being by generating insight, that is, awareness for the purposes of growth and evolution. Experiencing art in a slow, intimate, and mindful way lowers the level of cortisol, the stress hormone; it reduces anxiety, normalises heart rate and blood pressure, improves brain and cognitive functions, generates beneficial sensations, has a positive impact on emotions, and increases levels of serotonin, the happiness hormone. Art lifts the mood; it is an exercise in empathy and communication. Experiencing Art on a daily basis is a fertile routine, a chance for care, change, improvement in the quality and duration of life, and the guidance of talents and inclinations. The exhibition at Spazio Leonardo features 25 video works by international artists from the Videoinsight® Collection, a prestigious collection of artworks with a high psychological impact. As with other exhibitions, this project was chosen because it aligns with the values of Leonardo Assicurazioni Società Benefit. Spazio Leonardo, with its various activities, is the concrete realisation of the philosophy of a company that aims to have a positive impact on society, culture, and the environment, promoting the psychophysical well-being of individuals.
