THE PROJECTS
Damiano Fasso's work explores reality and its contradictions: it develops within an electronic and hyper-pop aesthetic in which artificial imagery and emotional dimension coexist. At its core is a constant tension between a drive toward the infinite and the perception of human fragility.
His artworks arise from the reworking of media images and signs, analyzed and reorganized until they become structure. He makes use of a multimedia language: painting, video, installation, and digital intertwine as parts of a single, transforming system. The artist uses unusual materials and references from different fields -- Asian new pop, social networks, video games, street art — generating seductive yet unstable images, where the natural and the artificial blur.
The colorful surfaces introduce an ambiguous space in which reality loses solidity. His work makes this perceptual gap visible: the world appears as a hyper-pop simulation.
