Painting mixes heterogeneous materials and references: it blends influences from Japanese new pop and street art, imagery from video games and social networks, and experimentation with materials. It is a post-internet, hyper-pop painting that employs unusual and sometimes risky materials—industrial enamels, plastics, fluorescent colors, glitter, toxic substances, or gunpowder—which reflects the contradictory condition of contemporary humanity, suspended between imagination and precariousness.
Inspired by the virtuality of video games, social media, and AI, where the distinction between reality and fiction is blurred, painting thus becomes a means of engaging with familiar images that, when observed up close, reveal an unstable and unexpected nature.
INDUSTRIAL PAINTINGS
A series featuring mixed-media works created with industrial or hazardous materials on canvas, such as gunpowder or poisonous substances. The colorful, playful look and unusual mediums of fluorescent nail polish and glitter create a contrast that reflects the tensions present in society and the collective imagination.
INDUSTRIAL PAINTINGS - WORLD VOICES
In the smaller 20x20 cm format, each canvas features a figure, a small entity bearing a name drawn from a different language. They are voices gathered from distant places, each with its own unique character, which when juxtaposed form a multitude. Pop imagery and industrial materials are brought into a more intimate dimension, where the encounter with the work occurs more closely.
TRANSPARENT PAINTINGS
A project that includes works painted with enamel on soft transparent polymer: the medium replaces the canvas, the texts and hashtags recall the world of Japanese video games, suggesting the theme of the virtuality of the image in the global world; the painting transforms into a video game and takes on a more conceptual dimension.
PLASTIC PAINTINGS
A series of works on canvas created using plastic materials such as plush and PVC; they reflect on the relationship between the artificial world and internal symbolic images, creating a sense of timeless suspension.
